![]() It’s not worth trying Maddening if you’re not experienced with Fire Emblem, and even if you are, it can still be a brutal challenge. In previous games including Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Maddening difficulty made attacking enemies a potentially deadly prospect and required intense preparation and close attention to detail about each enemy’s equipment and skills. Maddening difficulty is annoying as hell and breaks all the usual rules of Fire Emblem. It may be worth pairing this with Casual mode if Normal difficulty is too easy for you, to provide a greater challenge but also a wide tolerance for minor mistakes. ![]() As long as you have some idea about the weapon triangle and positioning and don’t bring in underleveled characters, you’ll do fine. This has been confirmed on the dedicated subreddit for FEengage and on their discord. It’ll be possible to have a character die on any map if you position them carelessly, but it’s not so difficult that you have to retry over and over. Maddening skirmishes exist : r/fireemblem Maddening skirmishes exist Don't know if anyone has spread the message here but it was found out that maddening skirmishes exist, they seem to spawn after chapter 16 and they seem to spawn only 1 per day. There’s also one other key point of consideration, which is the Draconic Time Crystal. I beat hard classic and only did like 4 skirmishes for sp. Seriously the game wants you to fight get some exp and then tank the fight as soon as a unit dies so you can get a gameover and retain exp and try again. The harder the setting, the more the game kicks your ass. With fire emblem engage Im just endlessly grinding on the impossible to beat skirmishes. Hard is the standard difficulty and is most analogous to the difficulty of the series before it introduced Normal difficulty. For the most part, this choice is mostly about the kind of scaling you expect in most games. With that not in the game, its a lot more fair. I feel like 3h maddening was balanced around using ng+ tbh. The story may be a meme but the gameplay in engage is arguably the best fire emblem ever. ![]() If you’re experienced with previous Fire Emblem games or turn-based strategy in general, then Hard is a better difficulty option for Engage. Yeah, its by far the best maddening mode theyve done in forever.
